O Πολυχώρος Vault παρουσιάζει, για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα, την παράσταση “Μάρτυρας” του Marius von Mayenburg από την ομάδα ProvaT.O. (Prova Theatre Organization) σε σκηνοθεσία Βαγγέλη Λάσκαρη.

Το έργο έκανε πρεμιέρα στο Βερολίνο το 2012, στη σκήνη της Schaubühne, σε σκηνοθεσία του ίδιου του συγγραφέα. Tο 2016 μεταφέρθηκε στον κινηματογράφο από τον Ρώσο σκηνοθέτη Kirill Serebrenikov, με τον τίτλο “Ο πιστός” και πήρε μέρος σε μια σειρά από φεστιβάλ, ανάμεσα τους το Φεστιβάλ των Καννών, θέτοντας υποψηφιότητα για το βραβείο “Ένα κάποιο βλέμμα” , αποσπώντας τελικά το ειδικό βραβείο Καννών “Francois Chalais 2016”.

Ο Μπέντζαμιν είναι ένας νεαρός μαθητής που έχει αφοσιωθεί πλήρως στη μελέτη της Βίβλου. Αντιλαμβάνεται και προσπαθεί να κάνει πράξη τον λόγο του Θεού με τον πιο διεστραμμένο τρόπο. Με όπλο την πίστη του, ξεκινά να επιτίθεται στους συμμαθητές του, στους καθηγητές του, καθώς και στην ίδια του την μητέρα, που δεν έχουν ιδέα τι ακριβώς συμβαίνει. Καθώς η κατάσταση επιδεινώνεται, αδυνατούν να προβλέψουν τις συνέπειες. Πώς το σχολείο και η οικογένεια θα απαντήσουν σε αυτή την ακραία συμπεριφορά;

Ο φασισμός και η ανοχή συγκρούονται σε αυτό το αστείο, αλλά και προκλητικό έργο. Η παράσταση αποτελεί μία σύνθεση από 26 σκηνές “μονταρισμένες” ώστε να θυμίζουν κινηματογραφικό σενάριο και μας φέρνει αντιμέτωπους με το ερώτημα: εσύ μέχρι πού μπορείς να φτάσεις για αυτά που πιστεύεις;

Ο Marius von Mayenburg δρα και συμμετέχει στη σύγχρονη ευρωπαϊκή δραματουργία ως σκηνοθέτης, μεταφραστής και δραματουργός. Μόνιμος συνεργάτης της Schaubühne, με πολλές διακρίσεις στο ενεργητικό του, κατατάσσεται στους κορυφαίους θεατρικούς συγγραφείς της γενιάς του. Γεννήθηκε στις 21 Φεβρουαρίου 1972 στο Μόναχο και σπούδασε στο Πανεπιστήμιο των Τεχνών στο Βερολίνο. Το έργο του “Fireface” , το οποίο γράφτηκε το 1997, ήταν η πρώτη του μεγάλη επιτυχία, κερδίζοντας το βραβείο για νέους δραματουργούς καθώς και το βραβείο συγγραφέων στη Φρανκφούρτη.

Marius von Mayenburg’s “Martyr”, is presented for the first time in Greece, in Vault Theatre Plus by ProvaT.O., directed by Vangelis Laskaris, from October 9th 2017 until January 9th 2018, every Monday and Tuesday at 21:15

The play premiered in Berlin in 2012, at Schaubühne, directed by the writer himself. In 2016, it was adapted into a movie from Russian director Kirill Serebrenikov. The movie was called “The Student” and it took part into a series of festivals, included the Cannes Fim Festival, where it was screened in the Un Certain Regard section and it won the François Chalais Prize 2016.

SYNOPSIS:

Benjamin is a young student, fully devoted to the Bible study. He comprehends and tries to act according to the word of God in the most twisted way. Using his faith, he starts attacking his classmates, his teacher, even his own mother, but none of them has any idea of what is going on. As the situation is getting worse, they can’t predict the consequences. How will the school and family respond to this extreme behavior?

Fascism and tolerance crash in this funny but provocative play. The play is constituted by 26 scenes, blended together in a way that reminds a movie script and it asks us directly: how far can you go for what you believe?

THE WRITER:
Marius von Mayenburg participates in contemporary European dramaturgy as a director, translator and dramaturg. He is a permanent collaborator of Schaubühne, with lots of awards. He is considered one of the best play-writers of his generations. He was born on February 21st 1972 in Munich and studied at the Berlin University of the Arts. His play “Fireface”, which was written in 1997, was his first big success, earning him the Kleistförderpreis für junge Dramatiker and Preis der Frankfurter Autorenstiftung.
